Dark by design, and grim and miserable-looking from end to end.

What Grindewald doesn't offer is anything new, or any reason to care.

A series of disjointed events surrounded by some wild special effects and scrambled together into a two-hour running time.

It's sad that Fantastic Beasts pulls off what I assumed was impossible: It turned an imaginative fantasy world into dreary wallpaper.

The promotional campaign asks audiences to 'protect the secrets', but you'll be so focused on working out who means what to whom that you won't remember half of them anyway.

Being a wizard in these movies used to be fun. Here, it's just a lot of waiting for something to happen.

The Crimes of Grindelwald is hardly the first Harry Potter movie to suffer from rushing past plot points, but it is the first to seem bored with its own characters in the process.

The Crimes of Grindelwald is at once dense with lore, yet strangely lean on plot. It can't seem to make up its mind if wants to be a Fantastic Beasts sequel or a Harry Potter prequel.

An entertaining next chapter that doesn't fully meet its predecessor's magic. [Full review Spanish]

Instead of a missing puzzle piece in a complex, thoroughly imagined world, it is more like fan service, much to look at and enjoy but I can't say that it's fantastic.

It is largely and regrettably devoid of the wit that made the first film such a joy, and the fantastic beasts themselves too often seem like adjuncts to the plot, not accessories to it.

The Crimes of Grindelwald feels hollow and disconnected, like it could have been made by anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of Rowling's wizarding world.

Despite being light in the story department, The Crimes of Grindelwald offers plenty of small pleasures and tightens up the linkage between this series and Harry Potter.

As it already happened to the first movie of the series (it) runs out of steam soon, at least as a compact story, carried with insubstantial craftsmanship by David Yates. [Full Review in Spanish]

The "Fantastic Beasts" films have as much to do with the Potter world as the current Detroit Pistons have to do with the championship winning Bad Boys.

...so over-plotted, it's almost incomprehensible.

It appears the training wheels have come off, promising that the next entry in the Fantastic Beasts saga will go full throttle into J.K. Rowling's world of wizards. If nothing else, that's bound to ensure Potterheads will stay tuned...

If there are going to be three more Fantastic Beasts films, solving the Newt problem needs to be their top priority.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is two-plus overstuffed hours worth of too many characters fighting for screen time that no enchantment can salvage.
