Waste of money & time...dull, contrived and a very wek storyline. JLo should not produce movies she stars in, it failed miserably....

I liked it but it felt so chopped up. If they added another 30mins maybe it would be more fluid. Some scenes did not feel right.

My wife and I enjoyed the movie. J Lo did her thing for sure. Wasn't one of the greatest story lines but not a bad movie to watch if your options are sold out.

Second Act is an amazing film! I've seen it twice now and it was even better the second time around. As a comedy with a woman as the protagonist, the movie is a wonderful departure from the norm as her main conflict isn't her romantic life, but her career and the lack of opportunities available for education level despite her level of skill and experience. There is romance as well as friendship and conflicts within her past that blend perfectly into the main story. Overall, it's such a well done film. I have to wonder if the reason for the low critic score is less to do with the quality level and more to do with the fact that the film challenges the status quo and gives a woman priorities other than men.

Although a bit compelling, the movie lacks of good story making it a bad jokes fest. Also the acting is not very good.

I didn't have high hopes going into this movie, but I didn't realize it would be so disjointed. I have not seen an array of JLo's previous movies, including "Maid in Manhattan", the movie which this is frequently compared to. However, the theme of fibbing to get a high-profile job at an older age did scream "Younger" to me, the popular Darren Starr T.V. series, which I do enjoy. I honestly expected this to be a movie version of the show.

However, it was not. The fact that I am a "This is Us" fan, I can only really see Milo Ventimiglia as "Jack Pearson", so pairing him with JLo didn't seem right. His role was minor, and the script had Jennifer Lopez mention how nice *his* rear-end was at least three times. I don't think they had much chemistry on screen, so it was hard to believe their relationship.

The script is very "in your face" about "how things should be", "feminism", and "sticking it to the man". It plays to an audience that, like the protagonist, lets things happen to them.

The movie tries, but fails miserably to be deeply layered and lighthearted at the same time. What really bothered me about the movie was the the lack of natural reaction one would have when realizing a big secret - the "plot" twist to the movie. Jennifer Lopez's character, Maya, internalizes and reacts to the news the way the audience does - that she saw it coming. The movie from this point on, is a terrible mess.

With Jennifer Lopez as one of the producers, this movie is definitely one for her fans. It portrays her in the best light (and lighting) possible, looking glam even when she's supposedly not (like running in sweats). I think she would make a fantastic villain and would love to see her in that role in the future.

It was an overall enjoyable movie in that it required no deep thought and was generally upbeat, but SO VERY PREDICTABLE. There was not a lot of character development other than the main character. Some very bizarre moments and too many secondary characters.

I normally Love JLo's RomComs, however this one was relfecting Political stances that ruined it for me. Leave out all the political b/s and you Would have had a good RomCom. Don't do it JLo-you're better than that!

The radiance of Jennifer Lopez is simply no match for such a hamfisted script.

Fun and heartfelt. Second Act is a pleasing comedy that leaves a warm sensation in your heart. It's complete, funny, doesn't feel cliched, and makes for a fun day out at the cinema.
