Critic Consensus: Smartly unpredictable and led by powerful performances from a talented cast, the darkly compelling The Sinner sinks its hooks in fast and doesn't let go.

News & Interviews for The Sinner: Season 1
The television version of a page-turner, as you inch forward in your seat, waiting to see where it goes next.
It's anything but breezy entertainment on a network where ill winds now blow. Even so, Pullman and Biel are solidly in charge of their pivotal roles.
[Given] Biel's committed, evocative turn, and the sure-handed direction of Antonio Campos, our interest is piqued enough to dig deeper.
My beef is that no matter how watchable it is -- and it is: slickly shot, nicely edgy ambient score, all manner of unexpected twists and turns -- you do feel a bit sullied and exploited afterwards.
Crucially, this first season wasn't very good, its intriguing storyline gradually undone by revelations and plot twists that, for me anyway, became increasingly far-fetched.
